Education bags major share of total plan: Delhi budget 2016-2017.

Education Vijay, On March 28, the Delhi government unveiled an annual budget of Rs 46,600 crore for 2016-2017. This year, the education sector has bagged the large amount of Rs 10,690 crore which is 22.9 per cent of the total plan outlay. In the 2015-16 budget, the government had allotted Rs 9,836 crore for the education sector out of which Rs 4,570 crore was given under the plan outlay. This year, the prime concern will be on the training programmes and infrastructure development. Also, he featured that every classroom in the government schools will have CCTV cameras and for this scheme, Rs 100 crore has been allocated. The feed would be accessible to all officials, the Education Minister and parents."Parents will be able to watch the recordings on their mobiles and know what their kids are doing in school. For CCTV we are giving Rs 100 crore," Manish Sisodia said in a daily newspaper. He further said, "The major focus for this year is on the training and capacity building of teachers. They are to be imparted high quality training for their professional development and will be sent to some of the best universities in the world like Harvard, Cambridge and Oxford. For this, Rs 102 crore has been earmarked in 2016-17 as against Rs 9.4 crore in 2015-16."From July onwards,  the new school buildings and various classrooms would be accessible to the students. "If we run 21 buildings in two shifts, we have 42 new schools. We have also built 8,000 new classrooms which is equivalent to 200 schools and we run them in double shifts then it is 400 schools. So, we have a total of 442 schools," he added.He also notified that the government will not send any teacher for census duty anymore. "We want teachers and principal to focus on teachings. So, we have decided no teacher will be sent for census duty. Every school building has estate manager so that principal can focus on studies," he included.
