Education Vijay, The Indian army has taken the initiative to start various schemes to provide education and employment opportunities to the youth of the mountainous district of Kishtwar in Jammu and Kashmir.
"Army has taken various initiatives to provide education and employment opportunities to the youth of Kishtwar district despite harsh winter conditions," a defence spokesman said.
He further revealed that in view of the harsh environmental realities, Delta Force embarked upon a comprehensive project of engaging the youths of Kishtwar district constructively in pursuing their skills and also providing academic guidance to needy children.
"In pursuance of this drive the units of Kishtwar-based Rashtriya Rifles sector launched various schemes to engage and propel the youth of the district to pursue their interest in meaningful ways," he said.
Some of the major projects undertaken under the scheme were motor driving classes, welding and mechanical engineering, carpentry, various heavy duty and earth moving vehicle classes, plumbing, and masonry classes. Moreover, tuition facilities were provided for the needy students of class 5th to 12th standard during winter months.
He said that the army covered the far-flung areas of Navapachchi, Dacchin Naginigarh, Sondar, Chingam, Shergwari, Patnazi and Kukarwas in Bonjwa villages of the district, in which over 750 youths participated.
"In addition, Delta Force also focused on constructive engagement and women empowerment drive by engaging them in developing their skills in tailoring, embroidering, knitting and weaving classes thereby making them self-reliant and independent towards their livelihood," the spokesman said.
He further said that over 100 women from various sections of society benefited from these ventures towards women empowerment in the area.
