According to a TOI report, governor's best university award was given to G B Pant University on the basis of the performance of the state universities. On Tuesday a meeting was conducted in regards to higher education and these awards were presented to acknowledge the good work.
So as to improve the quality of higher education in the state, he honoured VCs of four universities at the secretariat at the beginning of the meeting, as a part of governor's initiative. He also announced that for the year 2015, the award /running trophy has been given to the G B Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar and the university's VC, Dr Mangla Rai, was awarded with the running trophy, appreciation letter and an amount of Rs one lakh for the university's library.
The second place was given to Kumaun University, Nainital and universitiy's vice-chancellor, H S Dhami was presented with a letter of appreciation and Rs 75,000 for the university's library. Doon University bagged the third position and was given a letter of appreciation and Rs 50,000 for the library.
Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU) came fourth in the line and got a letter of appreciation and Rs 25,000 for the library.
These universities were awarded after their performance was monitored on the following 16 parameters:
NAAC approval
Smart campus
Research publications
Patents
Schedule of convocation
Schedule of exams and results
12 B status of UGC and receiving grants
Student-teacher ratio
Student-teacher ratio
Placement record
Tutorial status
Report of the progress of villages adopted by the university
Creation of centre of excellence
Coordination with the industrial sector under their CSR plan
