For all the admissions under the Right to Information (RTI) quota, the Nagpur district will soon have special School Support Centres so as to help students in taking admission.
In order to ensure a smooth flow of information, a total of 51 centres will be established in the district.
Moreover, on Wednesday, March 6, Anil Pardhi, Deputy Director of Education (Nagpur), conducted a meeting with his subordinates to discuss the plan.
Till now, no specific date has been announced for admission process to start, but it is likely to start by third week of April.
Anil Parshi had also announced that the education department will provide training to all the NGOs who are willing to help in the RTE admissions.
Speaking on the admission process, the chairman of NGO RTE Action Committee, Shahid Sharif said, "This year there seems to be proper planning done for handling the mass scale admissions. The centres will be of immense help as parents shall have direct access to information. My NGO will have another five centres open for parents to get all relevant information and one helpline number will be working 24/7 for parents to ask their queries."
Due to constant technical hitches, the online RTE admission process had got delayed by almost three weeks.
The whole process has been divided into three phases. In the first phase, all the schools under the RTE admissions will have to register online. While registering, the schools will have to disclose the total number of seats so that the computer software automatically allocates 25 percent of the seats under RTE quota.
As the first phase has almost ended in Nagpur, it has been reported that less than five schools are left in completing the process.
As per the information given by the Nagpur education board, in the second phase all the parents can start submitting online admission forms stating their school of choice. After filling all the necessary information, the software will automatically select schools that are within 1 kilometre radius of the applicant's residence. Multiple choices have also been provided and parents now will be able to rank the schools in order of preference.
Further, in the third phase, online lottery will be conducted for allocation of schools to students.
